KZ550 A2 UK Restomod Project was created by MrDawson
So here we go this is my KZ550 that I purchased for £500 it came as a rolling chassis with 2 engines.
She's looking a bit crusty but she has potential, most of the wiring loom has been cut and looks to have been sitting outside for a bit. There are some new parts that have been fitted to one of the engines which happens to be a D1 engine from the GPZ550. None are numbers matching so I've gone with GPZ engine.
Its going to get stripped to the frame and everything is going to be repainted / plated where needed. I've already made a start on the engine which will be in the post that follows.

So I started stripping down the GPZD1 engine and giving it a go through. Everything seems in order and it appears most of the gaskets were new so I think someone may have put an attempt in at some point. It seems the clutch has been replaced as well. I ended up ordering a sprocket cover / clutch assembly from eBay for £20 as I noticed none of the engines came with one and I'm going to need a clutch at some point . I also noticed a couple of fins that were damaged and I will cover this in the next post as well as going through the carbs.
