Last year I went on a ride with a friend of mine, using one of his spare bikes. I hadn't ridden a street bike in over 25 years. It was a bad accident riding with this very friend that took me away from riding. He almost lost his life. The accident occurred five days after my first child was born. The first five miles of the ride were actually quite terrifying. After the next five miles it started to come back to me, and I was able to relax and get into it again. A wise decision on your part to go around the block and check things out first.
