Finally got the time to ride the bike last week when it was nice out. She really screams, I was so happy to find out how nice it is to ride. New tires are a must, though. I locked the rear for a moment coming to a stop and said oh yeah needs some rubber.

I'll be riding a lot of dirt roads and such in the future, and wonder if anyone has found some good dual sport tires that they like. I was looking at the shinko 705. I'd need to get an 18" rear wheel, but it doesn't look like there's any options for a light trail tire in a 16" rear anyways.

Finally made some good progress. Got a 22.5 degree pipe from rockauto to complete the exhaust. NO muffler shop in town would make me one, which was baffling. I was willing to pay whatever they wanted, but oh well, I got the pipe for $10 and I'll just use some clamps for now.
Cheap $50 muffler works pretty well.
Painted the front wheel.
New shinko tires.
18" rear wheel shipped for like $60 iirc

Still runs like absolute ass.  Very hard to start, and will pop and backfire through the carbs. I think i may have an issue with ignition wiring, I recall it not turning over a few months ago until I wiggled the fuse box. It then blew the main fuse, which i then replaced with a regular fuse, since i couldn't find any locally in the correct size.

BUT I'm happy to be almost at the look I've been wanting.

Thanks, man.  That's my 84 Rx7 gsl-se with a 5.3 LS swap I did about 7 years ago.  Had this car since high school, still smells exactly the same inside.  I just started it up for the first time in 2 years and trailered it down to my parents barn, where it will stay when we head out in the RV.

Wife wants me to sell it really bad, but I just cant do it. It's just so damn good.

I used to road race an RX-7 with the California Sports Car Club.  This is me (#38) passing on the apron down the front straight at California Speedway.

That is just too cool, man.  Who knew there were some Rx7 guys here.  Just incase you guys hate me for swapping out the rotary, it's a 200k mile car and sat with a blown engine for 10 years.  It would have cost me twice as much to get to 300hp with a rotary, so i decided to drop in a V8 for the laughs. And it gets better gas mileage now too, hahaha.
