kz400 1982 became a Flattrack

Last winter i had a project to build a flattrack of an z400 who had seen his best days.
I´m really satisfied about the result.
It started with a bike who almost not started ,but i saw the potential to do something about it so i bought it cheap.

First stripped the Bike down and then painted frame engine fork wheels, and almost everything else on the bike.

Then i start looking at ebay for parts. Footpegs speedo handlebar mufflers and so on.
First of all i modofied the subframe so i could fit a new seat and the rear fairing.

All electric is hidden under the seat. I also bought a gel battery so i could fit it under the seat in a new batterytray.

The Bike didn´t run so good when i bought it and i suspect it was the carbs so i bought two new mikuni complete with manifolds and throttle cables.
After mounting these it started directly and runs so smooth.

The it was time to mount the muffle rs with new midpipie and some modifing of the headers. It was almost bolt on. I was lucky so i could use the brackets from the rear footpegs to fasten the mufflers there.

The front headlight was a plate with integrated lights.
Also drilled some airholes on the sprocket cover, just for show :-)

With the new pipes on the subframe it was pretty easy to fit the new seat with plastics.

In January it was time for the paintjob. First i painted it kawasaki 777limegreen.
Then i sanded the parts and draw the lines for the white painting.

After three months the Bike was finished and i had it on Swedens biggest motorshow in april 2019.

My wife also painted her nails in the same colour at the show :-)

Last pics of the Bike. Had a little photo session in the garage.
And the last one is me on the Bike last spring, it runs very well.
