ZR750 tank
Harley Dyna seat
VT1100 Vulcan fender

(And some blood, sweat and tears)

There are a few odds and ends left, but it’s almost time to put a tag on this thing and ride it.

You need a bigger tank to fill in the area above that inline 6! :woohoo:

……….not only that, I own a Zephyr 750 and can hardly get 120 miles (192 km) before going dry, with this big six, and nearly 700 lbs, it might make it to 40.

Hmm. Well, there aren’t a lot of choices on tanks that will fit this beast without major surgery. Heck, even the Zephyr tank required cutting off original frame mounts and adding new ones in addition to some sheet metal “adjustments” to the tank itself.

Also, the KZ1300 was fuel injected to improve economy. I will find out. Plus, I don’t know what this pig weighs, but I hope it comes in under 700. I sure pulled a bunch of crap off it.

If I can get 100 miles before reserve, that’s liveable.

Looks like you should get 50mpg on that thing according to Wikipedia.

Yeah tanks are a tough modification and I'll have to do it for my 550 LTD with the tiny 3 gal tank. It gets 45mpg with a 650 in it right now and I'm going up to fuel injected 810.

Idk why the ltd has such a small tank. Doesn't make sense to me as a cruiser.

To be honest, although I suspect it won't be bad at all, I don't really give a rat's behind what the gas mileage will be. This one is going to be a hoot...

desertrefugee wrote: The EFI module is actually located under the seat directly over the battery compartment. It’s visible in the photo above. There’s nothing in the faring except audio gear – stereo amplifier, stereo head, CB, intercom and associated interconnections.

If I remember correctly there are some fuel injection diagnostic parts in the fairing. That's why I decided to keep the fairing for now.

That scoot sounds wicked in the first video. Looking good too! You are doing an amazing job stripping that sled down. :-)

Guys, sorry about the video permissions. It's hosted by a site my son uses - his account. I thought it was public. I'll see if I can open it up.

Bill, as for the DFI control, it's all in the box under the seat. The diagnostic LED indicator is on a window in that box. If there's a problem, you have to decode the flashing LED sequence. Antique stuff. One step above stone knives and bearskins.

An older gentleman from the neighborhood used to commute on a naked 1300 and my friend and I used to just love to watch him blast on by. The sound was just incredible with the stock pipes and lack of mechanical clatter. Can't say I'm a fan of what's been done to the exhaust on your bike here but otherwise it's a cool bike.

One other thing...with the tank perched above the seat like the photos show if someone inpeeds your right of way and you hit them, your weight is going to shift forward and your junk is going to slam into the back of that tank bracket. NOT good.
