1986 Kawasaki Z750 L4 - restoring

Hey.
This is my Kawasaki Z750 L4 from 1986.
I want to restore it in the original, without any modifications.
I hope you help me in case of any problems

NESSISM noticed from photos that engine is sucking in false air through cracks in the rubber carb boots.
He was right. Unfortunately all four were cracked.

So I started to clean my carburetors.
I bought an ultrasonic cleaner. It worked out pretty well.

I used silicone to glue diaphragm and a glass bowl to do this straight

The end of the motorcycle season in Poland.
Together with two dudes, we put a motorcycle in the basement in my apartment.
It was fucking hard. Very narrow. I put of turn signals and handbar, because they didn't fit in the narrow corridor.

The basement itself is big and I can work in good conditions.

But did you glue the diaphragm to the carb body?
A thin layer of vaseline makes the diaphragm stick to the carb body while fitting the lids.
If you glued them, you have something to regret.

I used High-temperature silicone K2 beetwen diaphragm and carb body.
Why you say that will I regret it?

You're not supposed to glue the diaphragm to the body. Hope you didn't do that or there will be trouble next time the carbs need to come apart. Anyway, you might want to check this tutorial to see if you missed anything while rebuilding the carbs.

Except for being very delicate and easy to tear the diaphragms are dead expensive to replace.

I would like to suggest that you look in the file archive and download the Factory service manual for the kz750 and stick to the procedures that Kawasaki describes in the manual.
When it comes to silicon the only place I use silicon on my bikes is the Kawabond liquid gasket that is used when assembling the engine case and when fitting the head gasket.
Except for that I can't se any use for silicon anywhere on the bike.
But it looks like you did a good job cleaning the carbs. Don't forget to clean the tank to, or you will get new grime from the tank in your carbs.

I made it with silicone because the diaphragm is slightly too small.
But I cleaned it again and I used Vaseline now so it should be ok.

I built the workbench. I love working in wood

It was difficult to drive alone on this table because I had no run-up.
I could not go outside the basement, because the handbar didn't fit through the door.

That why the driveway was at the front wheel.
At the end my legs hurt ... and my back ;p
But it was worth it

I will be using an old workshop chair from the 1970s;)

I have not been here for a long time. A lot has changed in my life. Moving to new aparment, new job. But I'm back to renovation.

I painted the frame. My first painting in my life.
Of course, I cleaned the rust, 3x primer, 3 x black base and finally 3x the transparent lacquer.
I need to paint a few more parts, of course.

Do you know any shops in Europe with parts?
I will definitely need a few rubbers etc.

"They used to be able to weld it perfect. They can not do it now"... yeah ;p
