New guy on here from maine.. Thanks for letting me join..
As I grew up I always liked the look and sound of the spectre 1100s.. After years of riding hondas I come across this 82 spectre 1100 for 300$$ .. I got some plans for her but this is how she sat when I picked her up.. I plan to go right through it and put all new cables, fluids, maybe do a clutch and have the carbs done by a professional. I know they can get pricy and I dont feel like doing them twice.. Any suggestions on a good shop?

300$, you are a lucky guy. Sadly the 1100 Spectre never sold on the European market.
Great catch to rebuilt to stock condition

Thanks, I got it for 300$$ and she runs just needs a clutch cable, good service and new paint job .. I have a lot of questions about this bike if anyone can help..
1. Do they sell a back rest for this year?
2. Do the gpz 1100 and kz 1100 share the same engine?
3. What are common Issues on this model to be addressed?
4. What's high mileage for these bikes? This one has 22,000 miles

Any help would be greatly appreciated

1. Several companies did when these were new. Don't know about now.
2. Mostly. Cams are different. GPZz is fuel injected.
3. Owners neglect mainfenance, especially valve lash adjustment. It is very important.
4. A well cared for KZ can easily exceed 100,000 miles before needing major repairs. An abused and neglected one may need a full overhaul in 10,000 miles.

Good to know thanks!!

The Bike is going Into shop Monday for new throttle and clutch cables, new fluids, and a full carb rebuilds and tune. I could do all that myself but every time I mess with a carb I end up screwing something up lol. So I might as well have it done right the first time and know I have something reliable I can't wait to drive it
