The helmet hook on the right side of my bike seems to be broken. I can turn the lock and release the seat locking portion, but the red button that releases the D-hook seems to be stuck down. I can not push it in or pull it out. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks!

I would try applying some Kroil or a 1:1 mixture of acetone and automatic transmission fluid a couple of times per day for a few days. If that doesn't free it up, then disassembly may be the only other option.
On second thought, I would probably avoid the acetone mix, as it might damage the plastic.

PLEASE add your bike's exact year and model to your signature line. That will help us help you. The helmet locks on different models are very different. For example, my KZ650-C1 does not have a helmet lock on the right side of the bike, it's on the left side. Also, mine is a simple hook with no buttons or other gizmos (see image below). In the case of the KZ650 the closed seat prevents the helmet from being removed from the hook. Ed

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationIf you are not able to get it working you may want to buy a new one. Assuming the one in the image below is correct you should be able to get one from eBay. Ed

It is the same one. Photo attached. If possible i'd like to fix this one because it / the whole bike is 100% original.

I have one of these locks I saved off a scrapped 440....I noticed the back has a plate that comes off so you may be able to use parts to fix yours so you can keep as much original as possible. Let me know if you need mine for parts. HTH

Thanks for the offer Bluez! I ended up taking mine off the bike and taking it apart. There was some gunk that had gotten into one of the sliding parts on the interior preventing the latch from being able to unlock. I guess after sitting in the locked position for many years, the metal U seized. I was able to clean everything using WD-40 and then reassembled. It all works perfectly now!
