KAWABUNGA (KZ200 Repaint/reupholster) was created by Reymingus
So I had some time over spring break, decided to repaint/reupholster my sorta beat up kz200 before the rust spots got any worse. Lemme know what you guys think (honestly). I had a picture in my head...probably should've put it into photoshop before attempting it but hey, you only live once.

If I did this post would be about reptile jerky instead of this seat, that's for sure

It looks really cool especially considering it doesn't appear you have a garage available. 40 year old scoot, sweet. Best thing I've ever used on chrome or polished metal is Quick-Glo. Great stuff.

If you shoot your paint with SprayMax 2K Glamour clear $22, it will look much better and it will be fuel resistant. You MUST have a respirator with filters rated for isocyanates. $75 for a 3M, others may be cheaper. See link farther below.

thanks for the tips! If i do use glamour clear, how long until i can clean/wax it? I'm not even sure how long I have to wait on the acrylic enamel. Also not sure when i can buff the paint or what to use on it to buff it out to a nice finish

As far as your paint, I don't know what it is or how many coats were applied. Wet sanding with 800 or 1000 is often used. Automotive gray Scotchbrite is another way to flatten your existing paint. BUT...if you sand through the paint, you have to shoot the paint coat again, so it is a delicate operation. In an effort to save the factory paint on one of mine, I used 800 grit wet sanding on the tank, gray Scotchbrite on edges and crevices. It looks awful once you wet sand but the transformation is incredible. Spray the glamour coat and it pops. The second pic has been dry for an hour, so the gloss isn't because it is wet. You are correct, you do have to wait quite a while before you can wax or buff. I order paint product from 66 Auto Color, but any distributor can tell you the timing for full hard.
