Mount the plate with 1/2-1" spacers on the outside off the mount. It looks like you have it mounted on the tire side.
Other than that it looks like my set up on my 82, except I'm using a factory ZR7 light.

Thanks for the thought, will check it out. Thinking of maybe moving it to the swing arm too but not sure. Bike is looking good ![;) ;)](/media/kunena/emoticons/11.png)

No problem, smoked lenses and swing arm mounted plates aren't legal here so if you come this way.... Everybody seems to have them but you don't want to pass the one cop that's having a bad day.
It WAS looking good, now I have to rebuild it since I smashed it up last month.

Hey Brett. She's looking really good right now! I had to design my light mount and license plate mount with your exact issue in mind. I'm not sure how the plate mount is built or what it's made of, but could you heat and bend it further towards the tail of the bike? Or cut and weld on a flatter angle facing the rear? I did this to my bike, definitely sloped at or greater than 45 degrees. The license plate light still hits it fine, but it angles it so I don't have any rub.

Hey brother GREAT to see you again and hope you are doing well! I switched around the bracket and license plate and bolted it back on and gained a bit more, looks like it should work just fine for the remainder of the season. To "finish" it permanently I am going to make a plate that will attach to my handy little bracket that drops the license plate down around one inch and moves it back about one inch as well and is angled so that I don't have to bend the plate like it currently is. This will put the plate firmly visible to all who care (read Police nazi's) as well as give me even more tire clearance and make it look more "put together" so it isn't just a last minute addition. Overall I think this will work really well just need to find some plate aluminum and get to cutting and bending.

Great to hear and glad things have been going well, stay safe and ride safe brother we are all good here just working tons of OT at work so cutting into everything else in life, but that ends thank goodness on October 4th so the end is in sight!
Fabbed up a template for the license plate relocation bracket, just need to cut it out in metal and bend/paint it and install now.
