What did I do wrong with my 81 KZ750?
23 Dec 2015 10:09
Hey Guys, Been a long time. I got my Bike running again, and I thought in Great form, I'll go into details later, but I get no respect from ANYONE on the roads. I'm hoping someone could shed some light on where I went wrong? ANY input would be great, good or bad..

I mean I get scowls from people, and other cyclists avoid me like the plague. I parked at the big Bike shop here in my city and when I came out, someone had lifted my bike up and put a pair of work gloves under the back wheel, whatever that was supposed to mean, the guys were older and dispersed when i came out and didn't say a word. I completely rebuilt and modified this thing from the ground up, made all my own parts, reinforced the frame and swingarm, rebuilt the engine, and everything else is completely ala me. it runs like nobodies business, but everyone but me seems to just, I dunno, hate it.

Since you asked...
And this is only my opinion, take it or leave it. I'm not into cruisers. If you're looking for attention, get a KZ900 or KZ1000. The "A" models, not the CSR's. Some people like LTD"s and they were very popular back in the day. I always thought of them as Japan's attempt to copy Harley.
GPZ's are also popular. If you ride a GPZ 550, guaranteed somebody will stop you and tell you the story about how they used to own one and raced all over the neighborhood.
That's my 2 cents.

I'm not trying to win any popularity contests, I just wonder why all the scowls and such. I understand what you are saying, But it looks FAR from a Harley...

Doesn't look like a Harley to me, maybe the first day I got it several years ago

Since you asked... Crazy looking weird headlight mounts, exposed battery (just looks like tou forgot your sidecovers at home. Yellow calipers (ties into nothing on the bike)
And attemp to copy a harley refers to the 900/1000 ltds having a smaller rear tire, little tank and lots of chrome with high bars. Looking like a mix of a sportster and a kz (muscle bike)
