Hello Kristian.
I love your Z400, imagine it with a pair of spoke wheels with disc brakes and an early seventies KZ paintjob.
It would be totally "Kawaii" :woohoo: :woohoo:
The world doesn’t need another 400 Norton wannabee. :side:
Part wise there are a number of good sources in Europe
CMS www.cmsnl.com is a good source and there are lots of wreckers breaking bikes in Germany and the UK and they are heaps cheaper than local Norwegian or Swedish breakers.
You find them on Ebay, and don’t hesitate to email them if you want to by more than a single item.
I usually manage to get a discount or they don’t charge me for shipping.
www.zweiradreich.de/
www.2radhimmel.de/
www.motorparts4u.com
www.motorrad-technik-maas.de
Are breakers that I have bought secondhand parts from at great value and with fast shipping.
When Buying from the States, the shipping usually kills the deal, be prepared to pay 25 – 45 USD for shipping of small items. So I always try to find stuff within the EU or EFTA and that way you don’t risk getting billed for VAT or import tax by customs. But sometimes a man got to do what a man got to do to get the right gear.

I figured Anders would help you out.
Just a English tip; BREAK, BREAKING, BROKEN= grab your tools and wallet. BRAKE, BRAKES, BRAKED= slow down and stop.
Common mistake even for us native speakers, pet peeve.

I have one more question right away.
I can see on cmsnl's site that they have parts up to Kz400 mod79. Was there a lot of changes on the engines between 79,80,81 and 82? I'm also a bit unsure if i have a 81 or 82 model bike. It's first time registred in february 82. Is there a way to be sure? Dont want to order wrong parts from USA etc... Can be bad for my wallet. ![:) :)](/media/kunena/emoticons/8.png)
And in the registration papers it's written Kawasaki Z400 Custom/K4. i cant find any model called K4 on Internet or Clymers manual. Does anybody know.

With the Kawasaki Twins Owners Forum having disappeared a few weeks ago this is the next logical place for them (us) to congregate. The KTOF forum used to keep the little ankle biters at bay

Your bike sure looks like a Z400C -81.
If I got it right, the mags first appeared on the 1981 model, spooke wheels until 1980.
Check out:
www.kz400.com/ModelhistoryFrameset-9.htm
Can’t find the right parts diagrams at Kawasaki.com, but the KZ440 is close
www.kawasaki.com/Parts/PartsDiagrams/1981/KZ440-B2
Or the 1978 model.
www.cmsnl.com/kawasaki-1978-kz400-c1_model15457/partslist/
Other local sources for parts can be:
www.lellesmcdelar.se
www.partssweden.se/kawasaki
www.blocket.se
You shouldn’t have any problem to find engine parts.

What about this. With my newly bought KZ400, an spare part engine followed. The engine number on this one is K4E 180000 . This must be like having a "golden" phone number. It`s almost like I want to rebuild it and change engine on my bike.
