kz550 frame with kz650 motor
18 Jul 2015 01:38
Hi guys. I have a kawasaki kz 550, want to fit kz650 motor in any thoughts on that? It's a bike I got from a friend who didn't have time to finish it. He already cut the frame on the left as it come down from the neck.

The 650 motor won't fit without quite a lot of surgery. My GPz550 was quicker than my mate's 750 top end z650, so not sure where the big gains are.
I'd check your rear suspension swingarm, the early unitracks can rust badly and have been known to crack.

Same here. Maybe my buddies standard 750 was not tuned properly, but my gpz 550 could certainly keep up, if not pass him.
+1 on checking the 82-83 unitrack rear suspension for cracks.
