Kiwi KZP

Motor is in and bolted up. Will get to it again on the weekend and get the wiring sorted. All going well I might be close to firing her up.

Hm... that muffler does not look stock.. is it?

Mmmmmmm, now I have started to get closer to completion it dawned on me that I had ostriched the damaged crash bars. They are pretty toast, very bent and twisted. I had planned on trying to buy a decent set off ebay in the US but haven't been able to find a set that was in good condition and cheap enough to get them shipped to NZ. Thinking I will just have to do some sorting of the original ones now. Bit of cutting and bending in order.

Hey Ed, it's a Mac Performance 4 into 1 for a KZP. Supposed to be a correct fit but just a touch out on the bracket for the muffler. Not the prettiest pipes but seem well built and most of the muffler is hidden by the bag anyways so not a biggie. Also have removable baffles which is a bonus. I bought these used from the US off ebay. They were very were pretty reasonably priced too which was a bonus.

Ha. If you think that's "very bent", then, yeah, eBay isn't going to be much help. Almost all of these have road rash and bends. If it makes you feel any better, they'll mount up fine way more bent up than that. The trickiest part is getting enough clearance for the headers... you can heat that weld up with a torch and whack on those big tabs with a deadblow hammer to "adjust" that aspect. The bends will not be visible when mounted.

Got my new purchase back home. Better bury it in the back of the shed now or I'll get side tracked and never get back to finishing the KZP.

You got a nasty case of the KZ's there fella. All the usual symptoms. Highly infectious. Don't leave the garage!

Wiring is nearly back in and connected but my god how confusing!! Lots of random wires to nowhere, brittle and broken wiring.........
