Made some progress today:
Swing arm, triple trees, installed
Working hard on some more polishing. The finish on this is terrible.
I knew I would need to paint more stuff. I had to take this stuff apart and fix them. Ive gone too far to get lazy now. Went to tractor supply for a blast cabinet. Its kind of small and cheap but it will get the job done for me and will come in handy from time to time.

First of all- no thanks, I could not mount tires that way. I had a dealer do it but I think I should have taken them to a Harley dealer. That is what I'm going to try next time. They would be more careful.
I painted the electronic mounts and i have the shaft drive all back together too:

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNice project and detailed to a high standard. Once you start polishing and detailing you can't stop as everything else looks scruffy.
I'd look very carefully at your rusted tank, very often the metal tank badges create a water trap in that area and leaks occur, this is a common fault on these bikes.
Go in heavy in that area when stripping it down to bare metal, the slightest pinhole that water wouldn't penetrate will leak petrol. Filling tank with inert gas and welding is the way to go, but get someone experienced as the metal is really thin even when new.
don't make the same mistake this guy did

After sandblasting I retaped the covers and sprayed with vht engine primer and duplicolor aluminum colored engine paint. Here we are unmasking and going to start polishing the covers.
Its nice to have a good helper.

Its been a while. I have made some progress during the riding season. This will be ready for spring. I ordered new handlebar controls yesterday since the brake master cylinder seems to be in bad shape. I have been getting the carb ready too. Here are some updated pics. (Actually I am a little further along than this)
