1980 KZ750 (ZRX Swingarm, GSXR Front End)
31 Jul 2014 18:59
Hello Guys, My name is Donnon. I've been lurking around here for a bit. I finally have enough courage to post up my "project". I am in no way a mechanic, but I'm not bad with a wrench and tools. I've learned so much here and I want to thank you all. My bike is a 1980 KZ750, which was in pretty decent shape. I know some may be upset because I plan on changing the bike so much. Anyway, my plan is to use a ZRX 1100 swing arm, and a GSXR 1000 front end. I want to thank Leon for the awesome job he did with the Triple Tree conversion. I will be out sourcing more work to him. I only wished we lived closer. I will try to keep a photo log as I go. I've been working on this bike for about a year, and the reason it I work overseas most of the time so I do what I can when I'm home. Once again I want to thank everyone.

Here is the bike after the front Conversion (Thanks Leon) and the Swingarm install. I was wait for some reasonably priced ZRX rear shocks to come on Ebay (I waited a while).

The GSXR 1000 Front end. I had Leon drill holes so I could mount Rental Fatbars.
The Swingarm, and Rear Shocks.

The Tail. My Bike came with an Squared Tail/Fender, which I don't like. I love the Duckbill fender (which you see now). It is just sitting on there and not mounted. Does anyone have a suggestions on how I go about doing this? Also, I want to get a corbin seat. Would it be difficult to mount a seat made for a KZ900 (Duckbill) to my bike?

donnon,
the tail and seat can be used.
but,
you are going to have to create some mounts and probably weld them on.
you may have an easier time just wrapping the area in saran wrap and fiberglassing yourself a pan up so it fits the tail in the rear and the tank in the front.
keep up the good work,
and keep us posted.

Thanks Leon... They is no way I'm using this seat......way too ugly. I'll order a Corbin and make it work. And the carrier will be on the way as soon as I can figure out how much I need to trim off..
