I picked it up a year ago in NY it had been shipped from California.. It's a lot better shape then the picture here.. The picture was after it sat for a year outside.. My z1000 is the orange bike the first day I looked at it..
Cleaned up with no rust or pitting.. Motor will polish up to mirror finish eventually..
I bought it for $800 the guy couldn't get it running good and the clutch was shot.. 2 hours later changed the plugs new gas high octane cleaner added and removed the heavy car oil he put in it and now runs beautiful and no smoke or skips..
So far the only thing wrong is signal lights and horn. I have the manual and schematics just haven't really tried to fix it yet.. I believe it's the pursuit lights and side markers in the fairing that have been disconnected..
Right now the signals work only if you disconnect brake light.. No signals when brake light is working.. Never does the horn work..
Other then that I have a leaky petcock and the windscreen is fairly weathered ..
My buddy wanted to buy this bike and cut it up for a project.. I couldn't let that happen.. A few months ago I was in a bad Kawi crash and yesterday sold two out of my three bikes but had to keep this.. Not everyone's first choice but kind of getting rare..
My goal is to bring it back to factory looking condition and probably use it for funeral escort and just ride.. Go Kawi

You'll need big aviator sun glasses and an equally impressive mustache.
Real note that's a very nice bike.

I would buy one someday. The only thing i don`t like is the front fender. Still nice looking bike!

For sure I would keep it stock. It's appearance might prevent the next guy from turning left in front of you and stopping. Ed

I went to our bike shop to play with the kz.
But oops my buddy moved it to another shop.. He figured I wasn't going to touch it and we have too many bike projects there.
Probably 20 bikes total..
Not a total loss it was garbage day and he threw out his old goldwing vetter package.
I am missing the side marker lights for the police bike and don't have a radio box.. So I took the whole rear bag and box from vetter.. Not sure if I will use it but it sure is a possibility..
