82 KZ1000 LTD

Hello everyone. New to forum, I come seeking wisdom.

So far I have acquired a 1996 ZX9r front forks/triple/wheel as these are almost the longest USD forks you can get. I also picked up a almost complete 1998 ZX6r for free and I am in the process of transplanting the swing arm.

This is where my question comes in. Did anyone re-purpose the center stand mounting holes for the mono shock pivot point? It lines up dead on. If not how did you do it? I am looking for up close shots.

i believe some folks have re-purposed the center stand mounts.

basically the linkage is trying to pull them off the frame tube.
so as long as the welds penetrated,you would probably never be able to tear them off.

what tank and seat/tail are you planning to use?

Not sure.. What options do I have for tanks and seat?

I was just going to red kote the factory tank and paint it. Then use a solo seat.

Cross members fabbed and welded up. Mono shock conversion complete.

for tanks i am pretty sure the tank you have or one like this one,

are the ones that slot right on.others may take some fab work.
not much choice for seats unless you don't mind a lil cuttin and weldin.

Those are all very expensive. Not looking to spend a fortune on a seat. Not my style

This is my other bike. 1980 cb750c. KZ1000 front end (off the same kz1000 I am building) CBR F2 rear wheel. Rebuilt the top end Vance&hines 4 into 1. CB750K tank

I need to find an offset 520 counter sprocket. Anyone know of a chart or can tell me what years/models are compatible?

Nice project, I have the same bike myself. Go for the standard tank, it'll look cool with the modern running gear and it's popular to change it to a different model. Not many modified K series Ltd's about.

I am really starting to wish I didnt cut the frame shorter already. Starting to think a factory seat should of looked ok after all. Now I have no idea what seat to put on this thing.
