New kz build ,finall going to happen After 20 yrs

This is a project I have wanted to do for 20 year I drag raced motorcycle for years and got out of old school 15 years ago and race hayabusa and zrx14 but now I'm back . My project consist of 19 80 frame not sure what year tank 77 motor I think from a parts bike rear tail from beasley 36 x10 double club foot I crager 9 x15rear wheel cosman frt. wheel stock z1r side covers still have a long way to go just in mock up stage what do you think , I realize this bike is not practical but I love it

Welcome Todd, I love this style of Bike, I also am old school, I don't drag race anymore. Had 2 spinal fusions, lumbar and cervical.
Great street bike project. I know most guys here don't go for the Hot Rod style. But would love to own it!
Go with the LTD style, fit some regular side covers on it to match the tank and tail piece. I know all the drag racers put the flat Z1R style just for function. I like the stock side covers.
and M/T makes a street tire with a couple groves to make it DOT legal.
Great start. I have had a few projects going on for years also.
Other things take priority like buying and selling 2 houses, and restoring my 1975 Harley FLH I have owned for 32 years.
No one on this site will critisize you. (just get rid of that green! :lol: )

Thanks for the kind words yes the whole bike will be painted I am going to assemble and ride a few hundred miles than take it apart polish everything paint will oem color sceam not exact

no I love the bike, it is along the lines of what I build.....just don't like upside down, or funky pictures is the point I was trying to make.

Personally...I like the race look. One reason I like 4the kz1000 bike. Has the look of a pro-street style bike. Stretched and low...like a dragbike.
That huge rear tire will definitely make it fun to ride but it will look fast sitting still. Keep it going and keep us posted.

No problem I didn't know the pic were upside down the are not on my side , thanks the bike won't be much for cornering but fun for car shows and bike shows so far I have 2 k in to it I need a new pipe and dyna s , my painter is my buddy and I trade work , hope it will be done by spring . What size motor is a good st. Motor. I have had a 1168 gs 1100 that I st. Rode and was ok .

This is a touchy subject. Lots of differing opinions on this subject. If you ask 10 people you could get 10 answers.

On the motor, if you ride during summer in a zone where temp is 80 to 100......I would stay with the stock block. Stock blocks let air flow threw them and cool much better that a solid block like a MTC block.

When using the aftermarket solid block....the engine will get really hot and can cook the valve seals as you sit for a red light to change for example. This has happened to a friend of mine.....we were hammering on them and got caught at a red light....as we sat the heat rose and cooked the valve seals. Later down the road, the bike started smoking.......these engines get really hot really fast.

A turbo is the best power for the money. You need to decide to go turbo from the beginning. It is a different type of build than a hot street build. If I build another bike, it will be a 1075 turbo setup.

But for a hot climate....I would do a 1075 or a 1105 if stock 1015 block can be used. 1105 on a stock 1015 block is really pushing it as there is not much left of cylinder sleeve at 1105.
