It's been awhile since I last posted here, but I am glad to say it is because I finally got the bike wiring finished and carbs tuned just right. I've been having a blast this summer and fall. This thing is a beast to ride. More fun than I ever expected from a bike over 30 years old.

The wiring issue I had was just a couple of tail light wires that i had wired wrong when I put the LED lights on her. Now everything is working perfectly, including all my indicators on the digital Acewell speedo/tach.

The carbs I finally had tuned
at Redline Cycle in Skokie. They did an awesome job. Bought a new fuel valve from them too to get rid of the leaking vacuum petcock that I had.

Here are some pics.

Nice work! Is that seat from Vietnam? How does it fit and how does it feel?

Thanks guys!

I did get the seat for about $140 on ebay. It was the same as the one that you had the link for. It is for an LTD, but the hook up is basically the same.

I took the hinges from my stock seat and connected them to the underside of the new seat. I also had to find a different latch for the seat so I just bought a new, replacement latch for a Honda Cub I believe, and then attached a metal strip on my bike frame for the new latch to connect to. The latch was like $10.

I can post a pic of the underside of the seat to show you how it all fits.

hi gwolever, love the bike. I have an 81 ltd and have a few questions...what are the rear sets and do they bolt right on? is the exhaust a v&h mega? I have a pro-pipe and it sits too low for me to get my knee down. Does yours clear the sump plug/filter? I currently have a Marshall exhaust which is higher but has to be removed for wheel removal/oil change/etc. pain in the arse. oh and the rear mudguard on yours is shorter, has it been modified? sorry for all the questions, cheers.

Thanks gr8.

Those are Dime City Cycle Originals "Fully Indexable" Universal Cafe Racer Rearsets. I bought those, the Universal Rearset Linkage Kit, and a couple clutch/brake linkage arms.

They go on easy. I just chose one of the tabs from where the old stock foot control brackets attached and drilled a slightly larger hole for the new rearset bolts. They bolted on easy and secure. The linkage is easy to figure out and can be adjusted anyway you want.

That is the V&H Mega 4 into 1. It does clear the filter, but not by much. Sounds great.

And the rear fender is the original. I cut it shorter and bolted it on, but I used the same tail light holes to brace the LED integrated brake light/turn signals. I thought it looked better shorter than they had it originally.

Hope that helps. Just let me know if you have any more questions.
