need some help with model interchangeability

I have a 79 frame and motor, z 1000.finding used parts to get to rolling chassis is hard at best.Some things I have found are for police bikes. Are they later models? Is there anyhting from one of the police bikes that will work on an older one like mine? Thanks for input.

Anything 81 or later is not likely to fit as the J model bikes were substantially different. A lot of stuff 73-80 will interchange but each part will have to be checked to make sure.
