KZ440 LTD HELP!!

Hey guys, figured id write my own topic. Ive read almost everyone elses out there and I still cant figure out why my bike wont run. I have a 82 kz440 ltd. Buddy was gettin rid of it so he gave it to me. It needed a head gasket, so i replaced that no problem. I cleaned the carbs, they wernt bad in the first place. New plugs, new battery. Had it running a few times took it down the street but it wasnt a start up right away. I had to fight it to get it to go. Those few times i had it running i would let it sit at idle for alil bit after a quick ride down the street and when i would shut it off it wouldnt fire back up right away. I adjusted the valves within spec and every since then it wont start at all. It will chug but wont fire, even with starting fluid it wont fire. Im getting to my breaking point on this thing. I know it has a draw somewhere because the battery will die if i leave it hooked up, i have a kill switch for that. I have a few new electrical parts on its way here soon to see if maybe thats the problem. Compression is 150ish each side. What am i doing wrong here guys. Any help is appreciated. Check your rectifier. I had the same problem on my 81 when I got it. Could start it, ride it, but as soon as I turned it of and tried to restart it wouldn't. Come to find the rectifier was bad. I know on mine if the battery was under 13v it wouldn't start. Simple test is get a volt meter, charge up the battery, check voltage, start it and rev it a few times and see if the voltage drops or stays regulated.

ingitor? not to familure with the 440s
but had a similar prob with a 82 gs1100 and was the ignitor

Is there visible spark on removed plugs when cranked over??
