Just realized that the ownership of my new project bike states my bikes model is an "SS" and not a KZ is this a mistake or does this perhaps mean Standard Streetbike?

Just a mistake. The 1983 KZ1000-J Canadian models were designated "KZ1000-J3" as were US models. This can be seen on Kawasaki.com Ed

On the previous owners ownership slip . I was going to the licensing office to put it in my name.I guess I can ask them.
I also have a used vehicle sales package that the previous owner must supply to the purchaser issued from the ministry of transport. It also says "SS" on it. I'm confused now

650ed is correct...but once information is incorrectly added to an official title, it becomes 'truth' and difficult to change/correct. You may now have the only SS J model on the planet...

Mike yes the only Kawys SS. I kind of like the sound of that, would make me the proud owner of two SS's
Well today the story I got from the woman at the Canadian version of the DMV(ministry of transport) is , First- contact a Kawasaki dealer and have them state the bike model designation, then return to the Ministry of transport with the letter and they will assess the info before any changes are made
So that's what I'm going to try next week
