fresh gas and a new battery and started first kick. 1977 kz650b. i have own this bike for 15 years. bought it so i would have wheels when i visited my folks in wisconsin. friend let me keep in in thier barn. burried the folks this year past , so got the kz shipped down to fla. look forward to running it. this is the third spoked kz i have owned. header pipes need to be pulled and painted, too deep pitting ... have a electric iggy trigger to add and some hotter coils. dual discs and alloy rim up front. thats what i plan on doing to it . oh and riding the crap out of it.

That bike looks like it's in great shape! I would leave the spoked wheel on the front; it looks too nice to change. Ed

Looks to be in great shape. Appears to be a later model than 77 though.

Agree it does appear to be a 79 B3 and not a 77 B1. The front brake caliper is behind the forks and not in front of them like on the 77. It has 2 bolt front foot pegs which as I understand it were first used in 79. The tank emblem is not all caps like on the 77 or 78 models.

But it does appear to be all there and in pretty good shape.

been a while since i did anything but ride or store this bike so you all are probably right on the year. will check the vin and pull out the title. guess i need to transfer it to fla this week any hows. see what year the state calls it. will need to do a search on vin decoding for it. Put 50 miles in town on it yesterday. better brakes up front are in order.

Have you changed/flushed your brake fluid? If not you may find that makes quite a difference, especially if its been in there for at least 15 years.

i am planning on address the entire break system, asap . bike will get you in trouble faster then it will get you out. have everything to convert to a dual disc.. Need only to pick up a master. Plan on riding down to Percision Cycle and see what they have in their spares. KZ focussed shop in Sarasota FLA.will go with dot 4 with the new clean system and avoid the water in the future.

I think that's the best looking fairing I've ever seen.

It's a Kawi fairing made by Vetter. The serial # should start with K32. The same as a Windjammer IV without the leading edge turn signal/runing lights. Vetter called it the Vindicator for their own line. I've got one on my KZ1000 in silver. Yes, it is a good looking fairing. I love the color.
