Hello everyone. First time project bike here... Im 25 and have been into dirtbikes and streetbikes forever. This is being done with my dad to spend a little time together and hopefully get that panzy out riding! So far we have stripped it, sent the motor to Florida at Pit Stop performance for a complete overhaul and piston upgrade. Its a 1075cc now and has new everything in the motor. The rear swing arm is off a 2002 GSXR1000 and the front fork is off a ZX600P. The wheels are matching 2002 GSXR1000 wheels and they were powdercoated gunmetal grey. I need guidance guys! I need info on how to fit the stock KZ triple shaft into the new ZX600p forks as well as any advice on controls and how to mount up a rear mono shock. We are buying a gsxr mono today... Also, the front wheel is going to need a spacer on each side to stay centered and we are not sure what this is going to end up doing for us when we go to put on the front brakes on each side. As you can see, we are noobies... but we are on the right track. ANY HELP IS AWESOME!

Motor was pretty beat up...

It can seem easy at first, then get intimidating once you start scratching your head, then once you research more and speak with the knowledgeable people here it gets easy. I figure once you do the swaps once you can pretty much do it on most bikes doing old to new swapping. It looks like you picked good parts to swap rather than some of the more difficult swaps.

You are going to have to give more details of what your challenged with for people to help.

CRAZY clean garage BTW!

Haha thanks for the garage compliments. My dad loves to keep it clean... Its his shop, not mine. Today I sorted out the front and rear brakes as well as the rear swinger. THANK YOU so much for the help and links... There will definitely be a lot of updates to this thread and I have so many questions.

Rear swingarm: 2002 GSXR1000
Rear Brake: 2002 GSXR1000
Rear Shock: 2007 GSXR1000
Front Forks: 2008 KZ600P
Front Calipers: 2008 ZX14
Front Rotors: 2003 GSXR600
Front Fender: 2008 ZX600P
Wheels: Matchin 2002 GSXR1000 Wheels powder coated Gunmetal Grey

Really excited about where it's going!

looking great! Maybe you are just missing your spacers but the front wheel doesn't look center.

Are you referring to the pic up earlier in the thread where there is no fender on it? If so, thats because it is... It wasnt lined up straight and will require a spacer on each side to keep it centered. Once the rotors and calipers were put on, its perfectly centered, just needs the spacers to keep everything from moving. Anybody sell spacers for this or should i just fab them?

Here's a pic of it centered....

Anybody have any experience with lining up the rear sprocket to front sprocket and how to deal with those complications? Here is our problem if you can see from the pic....

You didn't state specifically what your alignment issues are. Do you alreasy have an offset front sprocket? If not, there are a few companies that make offsets (search 'offset sprocket' in the forum), but you're limited to certain chain series. Some members make custom offset sprockets for other memmbers so you could run about anything you want. If you have access to a lathe and a good welder it's not hard to make your own. If you don't, just ask and I'm sure someone will chime in offering to help.

Next, have you assessed what you can take out of the rear cush drive to move the chain closer to the tire? You can only shave off so much before you're into the tire. Conversely you can only offset about 5/8" on the front sprocket before you're into the frame. Good rule of thumb is to try to maintin 4-5mm clearance so the chain doesn't slap your freshly painted purdy bits.

There are many methods for figuring out the offsets. Most of the builds in the project section have a page or two about different methods. Also, be mindful of what chain you intend to use in your calculations. Not all chains are created equal. Many manufacturers state their pin length (outside chain width) on their websites. You could set up for a 530 standard o-ring, buy a fancy Xring, Wring, Zring or whatever and have it rub. Check your calculations and measurements many times before you start cutting anything.

One more note, if you're running a 190 on a 6" rim you'll probably need to modify the frame, get much closer than 4-5mm clearance or offset the rim to the frame. But it looks like the chain is already close to the swingarm tunnel, so... good luck.

ok we could probably go to a 180 tire.. also, could we safely notch out the swingarm slightly where the chain is closest to it in the picture? or is that a no go?
