1978 kz 750 brat
27 Mar 2013 22:26 - 27 Mar 2013 22:40
Sat for awhile. Came with a nice little 2-1 pipe installed already. Pics will show progress from day 1 to now.
Stock
Custom seat made from a skateboard, also uses the stock latches.
Bates replica headlight, with the ignition rerouted where the original turn signal was.
Hacked a bit of the rear, license plate bracket & tail light
Single speedo by EMGO
pods installed, airbox removed, and starting to clean up the wiring.
coming together pretty nice... looking to repaint it white with some burgundy pinstriping to match the seat. probably gonna be a cheap little paint job... any tips on how to roll out that dent in the gas tank?
Next plans: install push button start near the seat and whatever idea pops into my head.

Yes sir, it took FOREVER to get it to start though. It would run for 10 minutes then blow a fuse, it did this twice before we realized it was the connections that were all messed up.

Having an issue with electrical, the brake light works but I cannot figure out the running light. Gonna do a search on here for a diagram, the one for 79 kz750b didn't do much although I had it hooked up correctly.

Re: 1978 kz 750 brat (PICS!!!)
06 Apr 2013 22:38Got my electrical issue figured out thanks to loudhxv!
Slapped a coat of paint on also, just waiting on this throttle assembly. Dime City mailed it to the right address and the USPS sent it back 3 times... I have no clue but it's the only thing keeping me from riding this babe right now

What were your concerns? & Thanks!
I am really interested in grabbing some shorty shocks. Wrapped the battery in leather and cleaned up a lot of the electrical today. Throttle assembly is still missing from postal service and it's been about a month now.
next step is power wash, get a new nut to hold the rerouted key ignition in.. it's a fine thread plastic piece of shit that keeps coming loose so I'm just gonna get a big nut and washer + loctite
Going to get some new fuel hoses because the stock ones are totally destroyed. The bike only has 10,000 miles and a lot of the metal cleaned up really nicely. I'm really happy with how it has turned out so far.

09 Apr 2013 16:34 - 09 Apr 2013 18:01Got the idle figured out... took more than I'd like to admit to find the damn idle screw. We thought it had fallen out possibly
Quick shot of the electrical stuff all cleaned up, and the new fuel lines.
& thanks to everyone that's checked this thread out so far!

Re: 1978 kz 750 brat
23 Apr 2013 12:10 - 25 Apr 2013 19:33I messed up the link. Oops! Anyway this is how it's sitting. Reallllly thinking about pulling the battery and getting a capacitor just to clean that up a but I am very happy with how it looks. The rear brake ended up being stuck but all I had to was bleed it. Check it out now:
