Well I'm not very good on updates but we finally got my sons 650 road worthy .

He took his first ride today and he says it's riding " awesome " B)
By the time I got home from work it was raining so we will have to wait till tomorrow to ride together.

This will be a first and I am really looking forward to it.

Still a few things to work on like a final tuning of everything, figuring out what type of center stand bracket to make ,finding a stock seat , finish the paint on the tank but it's ride-able now

Turns out Zach is very good at running down wiring problems and was able to correct some issues we were having, and that's good because I suck at it

He has also really been studying up on the bike a lot and I am feeling good about the fact that he will be able to fix problems on his own when he heads out to Berkley CA in a couple weeks.

I wish we had got it going sooner but I plan on taking this coming week off and we are going to see how many miles we can put on her before he leaves ;)

Bike looks great! One thing I suggest you check. I can't tell for sure in the photo, but it appears that there may be a gap between the front of the axle clamp and fork; if there is the front wheel is not mounted correctly. Here are the instructions from the Kawasaki Service Manual for mounting the front axle. Be sure to use torque wrenches and follow the instructions very carefully; otherwise there could be a failure of the front axle clamps or studs. Ed

Spectacular restoration JD! High quality outcome. How's it running? Is that stainless steel brake lines in the front?

Thanks Ed , it's right must be the lighting :P

Yeah Joe stainless lines from Z1E, unfortunately he bought them before he decided to get Daytona bars so they could have been a little shorter but they'll work for now, he says it runs great but I haven't given it a test ride yet so I can't vouch ;)

New roller bearings in the tree ,wheel bearings, brakes, chain and sprockets, intake rubber, carb holders, ect..

I'm hoping that the clutch is OK.

It looks like he just joined our Forum and is into joining in on the relay as it goes down the Left coast if he can find time away from school.

I will be building one hell of a crate on the back of his Ford Ranger to store all his crap and the bike in about a week , pictures to follow
