Project timelines (Build times quest)
03 Feb 2013 02:20 - 04 Feb 2013 03:02
OK builders, I have a question for you.
I've built one bike to completion, and one I've taken apart and still need to put together.
It's taken about two years the first time, and the bike here is two as well....am I the laziest, or wasteful.
SO what's the average number of hours guys put into each of your projects?
ME -- 200hrs, by myself, and sending parts to paint, powdercoat and chrome not included.
POPSSSS - 200 hrs ( 2yrs) - first build, teardown and rebuild, engine not touched
- 45 hrs (2 yrs) - second build, teardown, only the frame and wheels are on, engine not touched

love bikes, and anything with a engine/motor, and i love the ride way more than the destination, unless I have a passenger, then that's all that matters.

On average it takes me 40 hours to put a bike back together and have it on the road. This is with the motor built already. Also, most issues have been worked out before the reassembly so everything going back together is in working condition. Starting with a bare frame/ bare rims/ assembling forks. There is always unforeseen problems and thats where time ads up. Usually when I tear a bike down I identify the problems I see and work on those in the restoration process so when its ready to go back together I dont have to address it then.

Add here if you can

Totally agree. Took me ten mounts and, who knows, 150 hours of labor. Only touched up the frame. About $2200 in parts including to have it painted above purchase price. Engine still needs a refresh. So, need more money more time.
