Rarely have I started with a project that actually fired and had a title before I started..
I just picked up this KZ440 to hopefully be a lightweight bobber/cafe for myself, since I am still suffering from my wreck last July (Central Spinal Cord Syndrome). It's uncertain whether I will ever regain enough back to ride, but I kind of need this distraction to give me a goal and keep my spirits up.

Don't let the situation get you down.
Myself and probably others on this board have been thru similar.
As for your bike, looks like a really good starting point, but someone swapped in an early 400 engine.

I matched the motor # up with the title and looked it up. It is the original correct motor. What do you see that looks hinkey?Nebr_Rex wrote: ..looks like a really good starting point, but someone swapped in an early 400 engine.

Second, the stator cover has three bolts showing, 440s are not visible on the outside, see pic.
Third, the little cover on the head just above the spark plug with one bolt in the center is the easiest way to tell the difference between the early 400 and the late 400/440.
Fourth, check to see if you have a five speed or a six. Look on the sprocket cover by the shifter.
