After a busy winter and early spring I am finally getting some time to start thinking about continuing to chip away at the list of unfinished projects on the bike. I'm also considering adding to the list by adding a fairing. I'm not convinced I want one but the more I toss around the idea the more I think a GPZ style fairing would look pretty good on the bike.

Airtech has one that will work with my round headlight. www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/vintagefairingsquarter.htm .

...and of course the Maier fairing which looks nearly identical.

Any thoughts? Yay or nah? I understand this will be primarily an aesthetic addition as neither will push the air over my helmet, but I am starting to really like the look in the Photoshop sketches I am playing with.

This addition to the project also brings one item on the list closer to the top - paint. I was pretty set on not painting over the original paint but there are a couple dings I'd like to fix that I think are beyond pdr. If I do a fairing I'll want to paint that, and the front fender needs paint as well sooooo, I have been looking at options. I want to keep the base the same basic blue, but I am trying to decide between the following options.

1. Classic pinstripes duplicating exactly what I have now.

2. Going with a Lawson type scheme but in blue/white/silver(or dk blue).

3. Going with something similar to the 40th anniversary but in blue/silver accent

Hollywood- I guess you don't have access to a lathe? If you do, you could spin your own sprocket down. Gives you more freedom to play around with too.

Bob- I've got an original bubble fairing that came with my bike that I'll never use. It looks like the Maier fairing, with more of a rounded windscreen on it. You're welcome to have it for shipping cost. Let me know.

As for paint, you might be able to make the ELR paint job work a little better on the 650 trim. Just my two cents.

Great job Bob. Any progress on the fairings? Keeping the classic pinstripes and preserving the scheme would be nice IMHO.
