Nice work! You should be proud of yourself! Nothing like doing it yourself.
But, my opinion, I am a painter, I always painted my 2 chrome fenders to match the tank and covers.
Of course you don't want to paint nice chrome, just for the hell of it, you should get 2 rusty fenders and paint them red. And try them out. Easy enough to change.

That is my plan for this winter. I am going to cut a few inches off the front fender top and bottom and than weld it than paint it. I will probably remove the rear fender or paint it black.
