1981 kz1100 followed me home. was created by kzcurt
This '81 KZ1100 just followed me home yesterday, so i thought i would keep it! It was a trade for work kinda thing around '6 month's, then 'about a year ago'... the guy i bought it from said it was inside till then in an old ladies barn. I'm finding clutch cable, brakes, throttle return seem to all be frozen...hmmm  Now I'm kind of worried that he was saying the engine wasn't frozen!!! :):)
He also said he had it started right up when he brought it home 'just put gas and battery in and it started right up, ran great!!...'
he had a straight face too :)

So I'm at a bit of a loss. Does it not start now? Or are you concerned about trying to? Are the cables the only worry?

the whole bike needs to be scraped clean then i can lube it up, get everything moving freely. it has no battery tires are shot it looks like i might need a new battery cables before i can crank it over. i think ill just get the wheel up, free the clutch cable, an see if i can turn it over in gear.
i was just out there taking the tank off an it looks like the fuel lines only go to 3 of the 4 carbs :woohoo: cant wait to see what those look like inside
OH BOY this is getting exciting

Yeah, that's pretty sweet! Diggin the giant stereo on top! Hey, before ya go tuning the engine, you may wanna top the pistons with something penetrating. Just to be on the safe side of things

I had one follow me home bout 8 months ago, turned into a money pit pretty quickly but with pleasurable results. Mine was running but still had to do a top end build on it.
It has potential, just get in there and get to it.

Might want to check and see if it has a clutch lever lockout. Some KZs will not turn over with elec start without the clutch lever pulled. Also, depending on the carbs, you may be looking at vent hoses, not fuel lines. Often there will be only a single fuel inlet for a rack of carbs and possibly a vacuum line if it is equipped with a vacuum operated petcock.

You are right on with the vacuum hoses, I saw that later. this is a much different setup with the vacuum then my 400's I'm used to. I have got a manual on the way, I need that! :)
I was not aware of the clutch lock out either thanks would have made for a real head scratcher without knowing that. I saw an electric come off the clutch handle an was wondering what its purpose was....

Also checked the title for a VIN an  it's an 82 :P
