Grabbed this lil gem for $75 after it had a 20yr nap in a barn however I learned that despite the factory oil filter haveing managed to stay with it for 7k miles and 32 yrs the factory air filter cap on these bikes seems to have been taken do to a strange conspiracy lol but if anyone has a spare or could get mi some dimensions and pics would be great but all in all what yall think for a $75 bike that still drives with 7k miles

Hey,

Great to see another 250.
I've got your missing 2 and 3, but no air filter.

In my research, I found the following and wrote it up elsewhere:

The OEM air filter element has been superceded but kawasaki didn't update the code, the same part can now be found under this code 11013-1039, and fits the kz250 as well as the following models:

KZ250-D1 (KZ250) (1980)
KZ250-D2 (CSR) (1981)
KZ250-L1 (CSR Belt) (1982)
KZ305-A1 (CSR) (1981)
KZ305-A2 (CSR) (1982)
KZ305-B1 (CSR Belt) (1982)
KZ305-B2 (LTD) (1987)
KZ305-B3 (LTD) (1988)

Figured would stop in for an update and a lil question today received mi new air filter cap, air filter, rh side cover tach cable horn, front brake cable and switch (best part all that bought and shipped for $60) took out for a lil 4 mile workout and runs great but the spark plug is black like I am running rich despite the lack of a muffler (guess what I forgot to order) should make it lean right? And other than black plug was new no other rich symptoms revs smooth hit 70mph real easy so another ideas what would cause the carbon not oil fouled plug with out presenting notable symptoms

Looks like we're sharing one problem at least - my plug is totally fouled from dry carbon too. Bike is pretty much not starting again because of it. While I haven't had time to do so yet, I am planning to check how much power I'm getting at the coils - wiredgeorge has a mod to help improve this if you're not getting 12.4V. Under powdered coils are supposedly a reason for the carbon build up if your bike isn't running rich and has good compression (check valve clearances).

Btw did you get the air filter element as well? I'm thinking of ordering it in incase I want to run the original air box. Glad you got all that for so cheap and so quickly btw - would have taken ages from this end.

Well now that I think about it that is quite possible going to have to check the coil voltage 32 yr old wire can build resistance as far s the filter it is actually just the one that was in the cap I got it was just in really good shape so cleaned it double checked for holes and went for it

Ha nice.
Here's the link to the WG solution : www.wgcarbs.com//index.php?option=com_co...view&id=12&Itemid=26
But a quick search through the forum does yield different opinions.
If you are planning to redo the wiring and don't have a manual, I've got one with the wiring diagrams etc, so let me know.
