Posted a couple times for info before, here's the fruits of the labor. It's still a work in progress but it's getting there.

Frame is '77 KZ900 modified to fit Z1 covers, along with 10 pieces of frame bracing along the lines of the Moriwaki Superbikes from the 70's. Also laid down the shocks for spring rate and ride height.

Suspension is GPZ1100 38mm tubes and a GS1100 swingarm, front wheel is Weimann 2.15x18 laced to KZ hub, dual disc with SV650 calipers, also running an ATK fork brace. Rear shocks are cheap MDI's and the rear wheel is stock Z1. It'll get a 4" rim someday.

Bodywork is mismatch of original Z1 pieces along with an Airtech fender. Dunstall 2 piece fairing is in the garage waiting on mounts. Paint is poor job from a $4 rattle can.

Motor is '76 KZ900 bottom end, welded crank, baffled pan, homemade oil cooler adapters, '77 1015 jugs bored to 73mm to fit 1105 Wiseco 10.25 comp. Ported '78 head relieved for Megacycle .410 lift cams, and Kibblewhite springs. Carbs are 31mm CR's with K&N filters, exhaust is a Supertrapp high bend pipe. Oil cooler is from a Triumph Trident.

This bike was inspired by the race bikes from the 70's , because I'm too young to have seen them, at least I can act like I'm riding one.

I'm guessing that that frame in a kz1000 as opposed to a kz900 if it's a '77. ;)

It's like Nove or Dec '76 so it's titled '77. It's one of the leftovers that they "never made". It also has a couple differences between the 900 frame and the 1000. It has the drum rear brake, but also the tube behind the steering stem like the 1000. I guess "rare" maybe, but no more desirable.
