Good stuff, kind of funny, mirroring what I've just done. Race to see who cleans up the rear first!

Nice work on the headlight. I wish I had seen this thread before you cut up that nice stock seat I have one with a split in the cover that I would have traded you. Do you still have the black vinyl cover from yours? And is it still in one piece? BTW if you need 650 parts I have tons of them.
A couple of things to be aware of on the 81 650 CSR. 1) The fuel tank is unique to that year 2) The front disc is unique to that bike 3) The air hoses between the carbs and the airbox are NLA from Kawasaki so keep your carbs as clean as possible.
That looks to be a really low mileage bike what does it show on the odometer?

bike has 18,xxx miles and thanks for the info....but i didn't chop up that nice seat you see in the early pics, and the cover from the one i did use is not well  , i figured if i don't like all these changes i can put it back together and slap the nice stock seat right back on. .

well i hated the seat i attempted but once i got the new handlebars on i was inspired to make my own seat pan...got to caught up in the excitement to take pics of the fabrication but here it is so far...the excitement was quickly ended by the realization of how much more i have to do before i can ride it again.

against my better judgement i ordered a integrated tail/brake/turn light off ebay and of course it arrives with one whole side of the LED not working, would of been a nice product though and the company was easy to work with for a refund of my money.
i decided to make my own bracket and mount a hardware store trailer light instead, i like it for $5

Awesome! I'm loving what you've done with the rear end/seat, I may need to pull some inspiration for chopping up my 750.
What kind of paint did you use for the wheels and forks? Looks killer.
Best of luck to you with this project, I'll be watching with anticipation. You're a natural!
