Paton could this be a kick stand or netrul switch??
Am thinking not a kickstand or neutral switch, because those switches don't have as many separate wires.
And just guessing -- if equipped with a reserve lighting system, the electrical part in question might be the reserve lighting device or the resister associated with such device.
On Kawasaki models equipped with a reserve lighting system -- in event of a headlight failure due to a blown filament in the headlight bulb, the reserve lighting system automatically switches the headlight beam from high to low, or vice versa, to (hopefully) instantly regain headlight function.
When automatically switching from low beam to high beam, the resister slightly lowers voltage to the headlight in order to keep the high beam slightly less bright and therefore less likely to "blind" oncoming drivers. Which might be an important consideration when riding at night where there's oncoming traffic.
Good Fortune!

I found a nice 6 blade fuze block . Im going to mount it to a piece of carbon fiber and mount it to the bat box.
I found that the gs 850 had bs carbs and the tops fit mine so did some biddin and swapn and ended up with some aluminum tops.
here is the shake down..
Finish cleaning up this wireing mess .... guess if i just think about it real hard it will do its self
finish bolting everything down
check over the hole bike 10000000000000000 times to be shure everything is tight and good to go.
take it to dale stewert have him check and service my valves.
also set floats and synk. the bike should be good for this relay ride sorry havent kept up with it but...
I am so ready now !! where and when Im down. Do we have an order set ??
