Ok so its been a while since I last updated this build page. I finally got my bike in to work to get the rear suspension mounts welded on so the bike can sit under its new rear end so I can see how she sits. I think the rear might be a bit high but I can fix this by making some slightly longer dog bones, hopefully this wont affect the the rise rate to much on the shock. sitting on it and bouncing around it feels about right for me but I guess I will get the real feel when I eventually ride it.

I have put some pics up of how its all come together, the sponden framed bike at the bottom is how I would like the rear end to look on mine apart I want to keep the original tail end off the KZ1000, I guess I,m going to have to make a new seat as the original isn't working for me. Im not going for the cafe racer look but I might be tempted to go for flat bars, I will have to see when she is all back together

I made these a while back and forgot about them till just, I CNC'd some 'End nuts' to tidy up the swing arm nuts......

Ive got my USD forks also from a Hayabusa...

here is how she last looked all together, I was still very undecided on the rear end so thought fuck it and chopped the whole lot off in favor of a bolt on subframe, that way I can play around with it to get it to look right

This pic shows almost all the mods ive made to the frame, the holes where I cut off the subframe need filling and the lugs for the new subframe need welding on then its off to shotblasting and powder coating :)

I decided to design a new tail and seat as I couldnt get the look I wanted with what I had, Ive tried to keep some of the design ques from the origanal

I did some programes and got a friend to machine a mould for me, this will form the tail and I will play around with some foam for the seat when its in place

the mould inline with the tank for an idea of scale

an idea of how it will look...

The frame is at the welders, Ive go to pick it up later then off to the powder coat place, frame and wheels either candy red ot titanium grey with flat black tank and tail, what do you guys think?

i think you have done a killer job so far!!!!!!!!!

i would go titanium frame color, flat black tank and tail with candy red pinstripes around the tank with white number plates painted into the tail pinstriped in the red with red #'s.

thats my .02,

Looking good. Off your suggestions, I really think Red with the black sounds good.

Just got my frame back from powder coat, I went for light Metallic Grey in the end, dropped the wheels and side stand off today, pick them up next week.
I've also stripped the bottom end of the engine and swapped over the old shaft drive output shaft for the one that accepts a sprocket, i've done a full photo blog thing to show whats involved, i'll post it when its finished....

this shows the rear where i've chopped the fuck out of....

Yeah man, nice work, taking the initiative to do all that. Im usually in a crappy mood mad at life, so my reply is a complement bro lol

Remember, don't work on your bike so much you never ride it.

I know this is an old post but in case your still out there I was wondering could you tell me what donor bike would be best to obtain the output shaft from? I also have a 1979 kz 1000 in need of the chain conversion. Your build is Awesome BTW.. Thanks in advance.
