Carb leak from overflow

Have bike on the road with a couple of issues, first is vacuum peacock leaks when in the on position, but is fine in reserve position, I get that, the other is fuel dripping out from overflow tube on1 carb. Removed float, needle cleaned and sprayed seat with carb cleaner, put it together ,same, replaced needle with another same, float level is good. Took bowl off again and put gas in enough to cover where brass tube goes into float body, aahhhaa dribbles out overflow tube ,put gas below that area , no leak!
What can I use to seal off that area where brass overflow tube goes into float body?

Should be in carb section, sorry.

Do you mean where the brass tube fits into the float bowl? Try soldering but can't get it too hot or you may ruin it. Only get the brass tube hot and then see if the solder will melt were the problem area is and get sucked in. Use flux first to clean area. Good luck.

Yes KZ, that's the spot, I have used permatex number2 on peacock orings and works well, but don't want to chance it being submerged.

Could attempt attaching the overflow tube by embedding it with JBWeld at its juncture to the bowl.

Where correctly applied, JBWeld will hold when submerged long term in gasoline.
Many broken float towers repaired with JBWeld have remained in service for years.

For the overflow tube to remain as a functional component of the overflow system, the tiny passageway must be open from top of the tube until exiting from the overflow nipple.
Will require careful attention to avoid clogging the passageway with JBWeld where the tube is embedded.

Is it for certain that the tube itself isn't cracked, and that the leak source is confined to its connection with the bowl?

Yes Patton, no apparent cracks in tube, appears to be right at joint, have a soldering gun so I will give that a shot, shouldn't be too hard to do..... I hope

Solder would be the better choice, provided it will also stick to the "pot metal" bowl.

JB it is, letting it setup for a couple of days and hope it does the job.

JB weld has done the job in the short term, hope it holds up for the long term.
