Thanks, appreciate that. I'm glad I did chop it because it was bugging me. Not to sound "artsy" but there was absolutely no style or flow from the seat to the fender, never did like that look on the KZ bikes.

Added some reinforcements to the new fenders by the shocks, helped take the stress off that weld joint and flows better....oh dear lord I am being artsy...

Skinned it, no need for it to be removable...

BTW, did I mention I HATE bondo or any body filler, this should only take a skim coat of glazing and some sandable primer.

For taillight I'm thinking two bullets 1.5" diameter LED on either side up by the shock mount and an amber signal staggered below it.

Can't wait to start on the fiberglass and get a seat on it!

I'm extremely curious to see how this ends up.

You are very innovative indeed. Never seen anything like this before.

Thanks guys. Was actually my own crappy work that sparked me to do what I REALLY wanted to. That hideous dual taillight fender just mocked me everytime I walked by during the day in the shop. I "wanted" to like it but just puked in my mouth everytime I saw it.

I really want to do away with the stock gauge cluster but my need to RIDE it is making me wait until this winter. I gotta get my sled back together before the snow hits, after that I'm tearing into this motor and having some fun!

Started the seat pan today and lucked out on the weather so far.

Magic blue tape...

Followed by some bling aluminum tape, later coated with wax..

First layer...

Layer 3, going to go with at least 5 and then let it dry overnight.

So here's with 5 layers of glass...

Then a final layer of fleece for added strength and it gives something to shape and pull on!

And then the moment of truth...POP...

After some shaping, I was originally thinking of a stepped seat but am pretty set on something level and low profile now, keep it sleeeeeek!

Seat pan wasn't long enough for a passenger so I extended it and dropped it off to get foamed and covered. Told him to keep it as low profile as he could without making it completely uncomfortable and seams to a bare minimum. Should have it back within a week or so.

Got the rear fender/frame painted same as the tank (can't really notice in the pic) and made the mounts for the taillight/signals. Wired them up quick...looks kinda alien, I like it a lot better than the other setup I had. Looking for a different headlight but stock will work for now.

Cool project. TBH I'm on the fence about the tail, the craftsmanship is excellent but IDK about the shape. As long as you love it. It should come together more once that seat is on.

I'm doing a split taillight with small bullets too, but a different style. You might consider making the tail lights your blinkers too. It looks find doubled up but singles would be even cleaner.

How about this headlight? I want to use it on a project but it doesn't fit the style of either of my current bikes, maaaybe the KZ.

I've got an idea for the tank and front end that will really tie into the rear, but I'm so itching to ride it that it'll wait til winter! Need to pull the carbs, yank the 117.5 jets and I'm thinking of 120 mains with one shim under the washer should get me close. Also get into the mixture screws and then balance the carbs.

That headlight is kinda cool, what does it run costwise?
