Did some more maintenance today, cleaned carbs, they were spotless but I dont like having problems so I did em anyway. New plugs, oil change, adjusted the clutch cable etc. Spent an hour with the autosol and my drill polishing the cases too.

Fired her up and oh my, does this pipe ever sound WICKED. Pretty mellow at idle, at 3000rpm its still pretty quiet....at 7500 it sounds like its going to eat small children and burn down the village lol

Had an exhaust leak on #4 but its quieting down, i'll retorque it after it cools down.

So, fresh paint and she is READY for the KZrider NARR. :)

Was going over the pipe checking it, the #4 head pipe is twisted downward at the head. Causing the leak at the upper edge of the port. I'll have to get out the torches and heat the pipe and pull it I think to get it to seal properly. Arrrgggghhhh.

Glad your making forward progress, I'm jealous. :P I'm not making that kind of progress and I'm doing a throw down on mine.

Pipe is fixed, loosened off the bolts on #4, put the bike jack under just the #4 pipe and lifted the jack till it started to unload the front suspension but not pick the wheel off the ground. Pipe didnt budge at this point, grabbed my little propane torch with the MAP gas bottle....bit O' heat just before the collector and voila....pipe slowly moved into place. Let it cool with the weight still on it. Removed jack and retighten the bolts. BINGO no more leak :)

So now I'm waiting to take the bodywork out to my painter. Its going ELR colours, got the paint ( 1970 Sassy Grass Green ) and my decal kit from Reproduction Decals in London Ontario.

I cant afford a real ELR so I'll slowly turn this into one. I'm still on the prowl for a 1000J or a GPz1100 engine to swap into her, as well as a Kerker. And I'll get the frame and wheels powder coated next winter to finish off the ELR look

Droped off the bodywork, paint and decals with my painter today :)

He was busy as hell, but said he'd do his best to get it done in a timely fashion. So hopefully in a few weeks I can post up pics of her with the new clothes on.

I'm stoked right now...cant wait.

So, my painter stripped the tank, not a single blemish in it, no dents, no dings, no bondo or spot putty. But it has started seeping where the rear tank mount is spot welded onto the underside of the tank.

So going to pick it up and take it to be lined. Just another small set back. When looking in the filler opening the tank looks like new, so moisture betweeen the mount and tank has likely caused the issue.

isnt there a guy around that could braze it up for u ? it would suck if it stared to leak after being painted. maybe a radiator shop?

I used the Spor15 kit from Napa auto parts $40 it removes, preps and seals the tank(designed for motorcycle tanks). If you just painted the tank you will have to wrap it to protect the shiney new paint.

Dropped it off at the rad shop, he is drilling the spot welds, TIG'in a patch in and rewelding the tank mount back on. Then he is sealing it.

Not too bad, even with removal/fix/reinstal of the mount and the coating, he is charging me $100

I couldnt do it that cheap myself, if ya take your time into account.

Once I have the tank back it wont take too long to have it ready to go. Dave already has the rest of the bodywork prepped and ready to spray the basecoat :)

After supper, I cleaned up the spare wheels. Sanded the front wheel and masked it off. Gave it a respray in Gold. I'm pretty happy with the colour so I'll be pulling the set back off the bike to spray them Gold too.....I already spooned on my new BT45V's on the set on the bike, so I have to paint that set, dont want to pull 4 tires and reinstall 2.

Pulled the wheels back off her, prepped/sanded/masked/painted them. Did the front wheel yesterday evening, and the rear this evening. Got them back on and I like the new look.

Also I had an original rubber brake line from the master to the front splitter, so I ditched it and installed a new braided line. Bled up the brakes and the feel is much better, hope it helps in the braking department.

Pulled the Muzzy/Hindle exhaust setup off in hopes that the Kerker will be arriving soon :)
