1980 KZ1000/1100 Frankenbike
14 Jan 2012 13:41 - 14 Jan 2012 13:53
Just a few new pictures of the progress of my bike. It is a 1980 Kz1000 with a J motor with 1100 heads. I am still piecing it together. Everything is painted. Still need to rebuild front brake calipers, install new ignition wires, adjust carbs., put on new 530 chain and sprockets, and put exhaust back on that has been painted with high-temp black paint.
I liked the paint scheme it had on the tank and rear fender so I cleaned it up and am going to leave it like this for a while. Everything else I repainted and cleaned up.

I also like the paint scheme, as well as the lift, and hoping that's not blood.

Does the later J/GPz engines fit straigt into the older KZ1000 chassis without mods?

Patton, thanks, that isn't blood it's red paint from another project.lol
Zedone, thanks, yep it does look ZRXish.lol
faffi, I bought the bike with the motor like this. I believe there had to be motor mounts moved but I definitely can't tell by looking at it.
The bike is looks dirty in the pics. from all the damn dirt the Kansas wind blows around. I have been slowly working on this for over two years. If I'd light a flame under my ass I could get it done in no time. PROCRASTINATION!

Milk Crates work a treat! But I also have jack stands under the rear foot peg brackets to help out.

OH WELL. I used a milk crate to build my 2nd bike in 1981. I had my 76 KZ900 already!
And, Oh Sorry, I built my 75 Harley FLH.
Point is, Milk Crates work great!
