1980 KZ 440

Have been lurking around here for a while. I thought I'd post my bike and show some of the progress I hope to make this winter. I got this thing about 5 years ago, rode it for a couple years and then started my own business, got married and had 2 kids. The bike sat and was neglected for about three years. I finally decided to take it to my shop and show it some love. Here's where we are today:



First order of business is replacing the dead battery. Any recommendations for online shopping?

Awsome one of my best friends has a 440 that has sat for about 3 years maybe if I show him some pics of yours he will get motivated

Now that the weather is nice, I'm starting to make progress on this thing. I hacked off the back end to make my KZ400 flat seat fit better. Planning on welding on a new rear brace as well as some additional frame braces. I was having problems getting it started, and after going through the carbs again, I found that the starter isn't doing it's job. Pulled the side covers this weekend and got the starter out. Next up is pulling it apart and seeing where the problem is.

I know it's been a while since I started this thread. I wasn't able to dedicate much time to this project. About two weeks ago my wife took a motorcycle safety class, now I have a fire lit under me to get this together so she has a bike to ride!
