Ready to ride. Again!!
08 Dec 2011 16:19
It started off as a simple project to paint the wheels. Which went great! I love the red wheels, much better then the faded black. Now it just looks like new wheel on a dirty little bike.
As soon as I got the wheels on I backed it out of the garage pulled the clutch to start it and the clutch cable snapped. So no joy ride. Luckily I wasn't out riding at the time!!
So got the clutch cable ordered. I decided to go ahead and paint the pitted and rusty chrome exhaust. Used the rustoleum very high heat flat black. That came out really good too. So one thing leads to another, I decided to repack the kerker exhaust. That really was pretty simple, except for getting the new fiberglass packing down into the tube. I had to take it out and trim some off since the tube narrows.
So got the new exhaust gaskets in the mail today and got it all put back together. Let it idle for awhile per the direction on the exhaust paint can.
Now I'm ready to ride again. Going to ride in the South Florida Toys in the Sun Run this Sunday. To support Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
I also installed a Givi windscreen a moth or so ago.
I'll add a few pictures when I get to my computer.
