This is the Beginning of my hardtail bobber 79 650. All of the work you see done was done in two days. Helping me with this project is Camchain from Hardkore Psychols.

This was a quick mock up after tearing down the frame

Stopped on the way back after striking out at the salvage yard and bought the metal for the frame

Cutting off the factory tensioners and using them on the new frame. I like the look of them. Call me crazy.

Here is the rest of the pictures from that night

These are from the mock-up and tacking process. Started getting late and my girl needed help with our kid so we had call it a night. One more piece of tubing and another 5 or 6 hours and I should have a roller.

In the past when I built stuff, I used to use a 4'x 8' piece of drywall to draw up a frame.
Good Luck! Be safe, goggles and gloves

Its amazing how fast this has all come together with nothing but hand tools, 4" elec grinder, tube bender and a welder. Its so very nice working with someone who is on the same wave length as me and knows what they are doing! More pics to come soon. The frame will go fast. Everything else will take a bit. Should be up and riding by march-april.

Getting Back at it on Monday. Money is tight, but all I "need" is one more stick of tubing and some plate for the gussets and tabs. If all goes well I will have a roller before thanksgiving.

This is the general idea for the finished look of the bike....

That picture was for frame style reference. I want it to look like an old triumph/indian/harley bobber, but with a KZ engine and super light. Basically, I want a polarizing motorcycle. you either love it for what it is. Or hate my guts. Either way. I'm going to be having more fun than most. So regardless of the direction of your posts intent. I say Thank You!!! :woohoo:

At the risk of sounding arrogant, too many have tried this and failed miserably. STAY AWAY FROM "UNIVERSAL HARDTAIL KITS". Build a full frame..

bikes coming along. I started mine probably almost 2 years agoo. It sat for a while because i debated on the rear end. I first left the swing arm and then finally came to realization that i had to just chop the stuff all off and start fresh. Im very happy with my turn out but am having problems withe engine firing up. good luck on your build.
