bought a true Franken750 off Craigs list.

A few months back I was painting everything I could get my hands on since I hadnt done it in 20 years and had never used eurthanes. I find a 750R on craigs list for 700.00 I go look at it and it was way worse than the float sticks on the carb. its a true POS but I hadn't seen an 82 that looked like this and thought to myself a paint Job a carb clean some tires I might even make a buck off of it, my girl and a buddy tell me Ummm NO! that is a POS!

before I got home got a text from th guy sayin it needs to go his wife wants it gone so I through a 300.00 figure at him and needless to say had to turn around go get my trailer.

I drug it home put some das in it rode it down the road Quite scary the front tire was worn really weird and was almost square. clutch basket makes noise but the bike runs too well to part it out paint the sets and sell em so it sat for a whiile I had some paint started a paint job found a front tire for 20 bucks from my buddys shop did some tinkering to find no power to headlight and the generic atrter button had been installed because there was no power through the button.

The tank never fit right and the wiires for the little cluster on it were unplugged and cut after a good look I found the gorilla weld marks the trees and title were from a 82 750R the rest was GPZ from what I dont know possbily a 83 550 750 1100 I still dont know.

anyway I lost interest in the paint job so I did a quicky on it an am stumped as what to do with it, It rides pretty decent. but I didnt buy it to ride and without knowing the quality of the resection i'm not real comfortable selling it as a riderm it still needs alot of TLC,

What should I do with it Part it out? Put it in the corner to build something crazy later? I really am stumped.

'82 KZ750R was the first year of the 750 GPz. '83 was the second year, and was labeled the ZX750-A1 GPz. That is a ZX model that you have, as is evident by the more streamlined bodywork that only mounted on the ZX type frame. The ZX also had a larger sized FRAME mounted front fairing.
Anywho, how many miles does it show?
If it runs good and has low enough mileage (which can't be taken as 100% accurate considering that the bike appears to have been altered a bit) and you don't want to keep it, I say sell it.
Be aware though that it's a buyers market right now, and sellers are slitting their own throats to make a deal! :pinch:

Ok, on second glance I'm seeing a LOT of alterations now:

Bodywork, gauges, engine, exhaust, upper triple clamp, oil cooler and possibly frame (have to go to my garage to see the ZX750 I have out there) are all ZX750.

The wheels, front fairing, brakes and front forks are KZ750.

Very interesting.

I almost forgot to mention. Nice job on the repaint. The skulls look killer!

Thanks for the compliment my girl is obsessed with me painting skulls. lol I'm not comfortable selling it as a rider not knowing how well the frame mating job was done. I was gonna grind the weld down and see if it was sleeved or just mated and welded but I dont jave a welder at home and my trailer was stolen from a buddies house (not insured)

not sure of the mileage on the odo. I am only in it for about 500.00 so its no major deal if I put it in storage til I figure out if I am gonna spend the time getting it decent or building a rat rod out of it I could always part it out and make most of my money back.

need to trade it for a new trailer lol

I say build.
You did a great job with your other bike, and on the budget you gave yourself, that's pretty impressive. You get those creative juices flowing again, and who knows what you can make out of this one? Alter the body panels, ditch the fairing, and you'd have a great starting platform for something.
