welcome to my build thread, i bought a 76 kz900 for $80 and im going to build a bad ass bike for as little coin as possible, when i got the bike the PO left the valve cover off for about 10 years, outside in a junk pile, well i finished stripping it down tonight and started grinding on it, in my typical acting without thinking mode i cut off the footpeg studs on one side before i realized they threaded out,(doh!) my plan for this bike is to put an 06 gsxr front end and i was planning on putting a zx9r rear on it until i mocked it up tonight and realized the zx9r swinger is 10+" wide (double doh!) now i dont know what the f im gonna do, i have the 06 gsxr swingarm but i find them extra ugly, i welcome ALL ideas and criticism and am glad to be a part of this excellent website

Was wondering where your build thread was!! Yep, that swing arm will make things a little tough. If your looking for the square tubular look, then check out the early GSXR 750's. They should be easy to find and don't have the extra upper supports of some of later swingarms.

I wouldn't worry to much about the foot pegs (cut mine off to) as you will probrably end up wanted more modern sets anyway.. :)

Seems like we will be doing our builds at the same time, so I will be paying close attention to see what kind of pointers I can pickup.

Looking good so far.. now the fun begins!!

i will be running more modern rearsets, i have a set of f3 ones but they arent real sexy so i dont know, i was wanting the studs out of the holes anyway cause i may be using them, not sure, i guess i will drill them out, does anyone have the pivot width on an 03 gsxr 600 swingarm?

ID - Pivot bolt is 15.90 mm so I figure the ID of the sleeve should be 16mm
OD - of the sleeve is 24.92 mm
Length - of the sleeve is 9.25 in or 234.95mm

Spacer for pivot
ID - should slip on the sleeve above 25mm
OD - 47.50 not real importaint but whatever is close
Length - 8.20 mm

These are the dimensions I had for the spacers for my 81 LTD using a 04 GSXR 1000 arm.
Not sure if it is of any use to you but I think the 750 arm is the same width but shorter length.
Width should be 234.95mm - 8.20mm = 226.75mm = 8.92 in

jydog is on the money.. If I remember correctly they are 228mm, so they should fit nicely. However make sure you take into account the length, as I believe they are shorter then the 750 and the 1000.

I am picking up some parts for my bike tomorrow and can probably put my hands on one of you need any other measurements.. I know he has 750's and 1000's, im sure he has a 600 as well..
