Hey guys, new to the site. I normally build ratrods/hotrods or just about anything I find cool. First bike build, new welder just showed up today so I can really get some work done this weekend.

1979 Kz650
20k original miles
Runs great

Plan:
Lengthen swingarm (already cut into 3 pieces) - length tbd.
Weld on my new shock mount tabs
Find a different tank :)
Solo seat
Drag bars
Kz650b spoke wheels

Thanks!

I should have waited until the new buzz box arrived so I could brace the swingarm before I cut. It's just going to take a lot more measurements to get it true again. I got a little too happy with the cut off wheel

Got a bunch done today.

Picked up tubing to stretch the swingarm
Finished some grinding/welding on the frame
Waiting for parts to show up

Started on my 1940's Coca Cola ice chest restoration too!

Pics to come.

Got a lot done today!

Bike is low. Perfect rake, i'm not even going to mess with the front.

To do list:
Waiting on hub and chain to install 18 rear
Put on my drag bars
relocate ignition
finish the rear tubing
find a tank
make a seat
extend rear brake
fab a bracket for the rear brake
paint everything

If you weren't going to make it long you should have left it stock. 5 inches ain't nothin'. Now here's a guy who knows how to stretch a bike. You may want to add 20 feet or so to that swingarm. :P

I would have loved to keep it stock length. And I thought about just putting my spare swingarm on it, but it had to go back so it's not hitting me in the ass.

And there's no way I was going to do a hardtail stretch like everyone else and their mom.
