So I am still new at all of this and new to my KZ1000 but I'm going to go big right from the start. I need some help and advice from people who have already battled a few of the beasts that I've run into thus-far. I am having a swingarm built by D&G as we speak to house a rear wheel from a CBR. My first issue is this, I grabbed a front end(forks , trees, calipers) from a 1999 zx9 but the wheels I want to use are from a CBR. My question is this: What is the best front end to swap out for a drag bike that I can throw a CBR wheel into without too much trouble?

I have run into a couple of issues so far, caliper offset will need correcting, frame neck may need replaced to house zx9 forks, front fender needs to house the CBR 16 inch wheel.

Any help or advice here would be appreciated. I'm open to the idea of getting all new stuff if what I have will be more trouble. I only want to put a 5 star wheels on it.

Thanks in advance.

Others on here have more experience swapping front ends and the intricacies of doing it but if it were me, I would try to find the front end off the model CBR that the wheels came off of. Get the whole front end...brakes, calipers, etc. if you can so everything will bolt on. You will probably need to switch out the steering stem anyway so might as well do it with the CBR forks. Also if you can find the rear wheel brake system, it would make that easier to assemble.

isn't the rear wheel on a cbr 17"?

while the front is 16".

not sure i would go that route.

the zx9 front end you have would probably be easier to mate up with some zx636 5 spoke wheels.
the zx900 legs are the ones you want.they are the closest to stock length.it takes a stem swap to put the zx9 frontend on your bike.i have done several stem swaps for the zx9.

ideally you want the complete frontend wheels brakes the whole setup.trying to piece this crap together gets expensive and time consuming which means you end up losing interest and moving on to your next fancy.

99 zx9 has a conventional fork.
what year cbr has a 16" ,5 spoke wheel ? i have a 2000cbr6, and 2006 and they have 3 spokes.
i agree with using everything from the same bike. the problem with mixing forks and wheels is the brakes. mounting the calipers to mate the rotors could be a nightmere.
if u whant a conventional fork, the zrx is a nice swap. a member here by the name of sandy has a complete front end for sale.
most modern bikes have 3 spokes so 5 spokes may be limited.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I ended up getting an entire front end from a Yamaha r6. I managed to get both the front and rear wheels also. Currently all of the plastics are at the paint shop getting shot with some Spectrum Green. I'll post pics along the way of this build and I'm sure I'll have a few more questions before it's all finished.
