UPDATE:

Project has ground to a bit of a halt as I cannot find my Rear Master cylinder anywhere. What really irks me is at one time I had 2 and they both went missing.

Been on the phone daily and hoping to find a NOS assy or a minty used.

Here's where I am so far...

Almost complete re-assembly (had the frame and several other parts powder coated and they look just like the stock paint) Just about at the point of hanging the tank, fairing etc...

The engine is all done, cleaned re-painted with correct file work on top fins... cases / carb tops buffed to original luster.

Shocks stripped, sand-blasted and re-painted. They seem to have some life left in them.. I guess we'll see when I ride it.

All the bodywork was painted about 3 years ago and looks 100% original (new emblems on tank and side-covers) Orig. tank. faring and rear tail were destroyed and about 8 years ago when I bought the bike I found a parts bike and another set of bodywork... I had prepped and primed all parts for paint and sold one off and sent the other in for paint to a now retired painter who "Aced" the original color and pin-striping. You'd swear they were NOS.

Wheels and brake assemblies all stripped and re-painted

Fork legs stripped and re clear-coated. New seals and boots

Minty original exhaust all cleaned and collector re-painted heat-proof flat black

ON THAT NOTE: This bike was mine from 78-79 and I found it in a complete state of damage and neglect... The owner had put a Kerker on it the day he bought it from me (I worked in a Kawi dealership back then) and he kept the stock exhaust... that was one of the reasons I decided to buy it...

Tons of NOS parts that I began sourcing 8 years ago (signals, mirrors, levers, grips, grommets galore, cables, front pegs, sprockets, chain, stainless nuts and bolts etc. etc)

I regret not documenting the project in pictures and sadly lost the pics of it when I first got it home... It looked hideous in candy lime green with scrapes and rust EVERYWHERE. I looked ready for the scrap-heap. Luckily it had engine guards (which were both ground and scraped but kept the cases from damage)

I've posted a few wants and inquiries in the chassis section.

Anyone have any NOS parts for the 1978 Z1R? I need a wide range of oddball parts.

Need:

1 (ONE) REAR MASTER CYLINDER ASSY (43015-1013)
1 (ONE) IGNITION ASSY W/ KEYS (27005-5005) Mine's beat up w/ only 1 non-orig key
8 (EIGHT) WINDSHIELD SCREWS ,5X12 (220C0512)
1 (ONE) STEERING STEM HEAD BOLT (92007-031)
1 (ONE) COVER,STARTING MOTOR (21165-001)
1 (ONE) LENS,TAIL LAMP (23026-034)
1 (ONE) STEERING LOCK CAP (11012-1134)
1 (ONE) SHIFT PEDAL RUBBER (13157-004)
1 (ONE) REAR LEFT FOOTREST (34028-1009)
1 (ONE) REAR RIGHT FOOTREST (34028-1010)
2 (TWO) REAR FOOTREST BAR BRACKET (34029-014)
2 (TWO) FRONT REFLECTOR (28012-016)
4 (FOUR) HANDLEBAR BOLT 8X38 (92001-1405)

My seat about an 8 out of 10 and is currently is at a vinyl repair place and I hope they do it justice. A NOS seat would be wonderful to find I saw a member on the board who said he had a minty one.

I sold an as new MKII seat to a local fellow 3 years ago for $100... Maybe I'll get some karma!

How do I send a PM to a member?

Hope to hear from ya'all!

Please see my posts in the Chassis forum.

Thanks!
