To install a rear Hugger or not, I have been wanting to see if might get some benefits of running a rear hugger as far as keeping spray or road grime from being thrown forward as I have no Inner fender , So I bought one to install , To be honest I'm not sold on the looks but I was thinking of function , I wasn't a fan of a full cover so I got one mid-size . I also went with carbon figured I could paint it If I didn't like the look. The installation fit wasn't too bad just have to fab up some brackets, right now it's just mocked up., let me know what you guys think. Cheers

Re: 1980 project.
21 Jan 2026 04:23I want to start by saying this is one of the nicest custom KZ's I have ever seen, I love it. I get what you mean with keeping the crap off of the rear shock which makes complete sense however I agree with you that finding something that does the job but still looks "right" is not so easy. Before I decided to build the full closing panels for my build I was toying with cutting a section from the original rear fender then adding a mounting flange to bolt to the cross member in the swinging arm (functional but subtle)To install a rear Hugger or not, I have been wanting to see if might get some benefits of running a rear hugger as far as keeping spray or road grime from being thrown forward as I have no Inner fender , So I bought one to install , To be honest I'm not sold on the looks but I was thinking of function , I wasn't a fan of a full cover so I got one mid-size .
